Americans will never accept that they are ruled, but at the same time recognize that voting does no good, that there aren’t any real choices aside from worse and even worser. That’s not a choice. When we go into elections expecting nothing different from the outcome except, perhaps, electing those who will turn the nation into some Third World disaster, that’s not a choice. That’s being ruled by malevolent gangs.
The idea, the very substance of being an American, is not to be ruled, but to be the masters of our own destiny. Laws that are abhorrent to the concepts of rights and freedoms come from those who rule over the individual and mete out tiny privileges that can be revoked at a whisper of disobedience.
