Public justice can be a good deterrence. And I think that is your point behind publicly hanging corrupt politicians. Why not murders and rapists?
There is a movement to try and normalize crime. Apologize it away. Its part of the defund the police movement. If you are ashamed for punishing a criminal maybe what hedl did was not a crime? That is what they are aiming here.
All this does is create more victims.
