Yeah, wood pellets are a big deal for gasification. They're standardized enough that you can make the gasifier tolerances much tighter.
1. Grind and dry biomass and press pellets
2. Use the pellets
It's a nice workflow. The only sad thing is it won't scale to global usage because you still have that photosynthesis is 1% efficient problem, so at some point you end up cutting down all the trees in the world.
