I tried finding this information yesterday and it was simply not available:
The 17 year-old murderer of the three little children in Southport was born in Cardiff and the son of Rwandan immigrants.
The false claims on social media that right-wing lunatics used as justification to start a violent riot were instead claiming that he was an asylum seeker.
(Why did I have to wait for a German news channel to cover the story to get these details? All the U.K. outlets I've checked yesterday didn't include either of these two details. All they said was he's 17, and that some wrong name was being circulated on social media.)
I guess the right-wing nuts needed the asylum-seeker claim to "prove" that they aren't racist. "It's not about him being black! It's about him being an asylum seeker who was let in due to bad laws!!" No, you just hear he was black / from an African immigrant family, and that's all you needed to know, isn't it?
