I only use chromecast for the ones the TV supports badly, and xbox does blueray so really only need 2. I have the AVR on the 3rd but it doesn't do 4k so no good for xbox, but it does pick up TV remote volume commands down the hdmi so 3 does me fine. If digital audio out did volume and power for the avr amp then 2 would be enough
