Keep trying, you'll get it. I've hand soldered many of those. I find it works best with a needle point soldering iron and .5 or .4mm 60/40 solder. If you really want to use paste I'd get a stencil. You could fix that bridge with some copper solder whick. Just rub it with a hot soldering iron on each side and it will come out perfect.
