I am about to offer a Yoto player for my kid, and it seems very cool while staying within the company’s ecosystem. I also like that any NFC cards can be used for custom content. But being dependent 1. on a smartphone and smartphone app to load new cards 2. on a user account on a company’s website, sounds very wrong. What happens if the company no longer supports the products, goes bankrupt, or just get hacked? I feel nostalgic about hardware that ages independently from it constructor: cassettes and CD players… If you have any smart advice, hack or devices for 2yo kid, let me know!
