Why ‘democratic neutrality’ is an overlooked threat to American democracy
"Democratic neutrality" is a big part of what people mean when they say they are "not political"... even if, when pressed, they claim to value democracy (because what kind if person doesn't value democracy?)
I think a lot of activists:
- know this, intuitively,
- don't address it explicitly enough,
- thereby misgauge what they are achieving when they succeed,
- and therefore fail to build foundations for more systemic, durable achievements.
