I've been a bit quiet around here, had a busy, but productive work week and got waaaaay too little sleep.
But I'm feeling better now. 👍
Sometime last week I finished the 5th Murderbot book, Network Effect, which was amazing. To me, the best Murderbot book so far. It was also surprisingly long, much longer than any of the previous books, but even so I was hooked from start to finish.
After that I picked up A Wizard of Earthsea, my first Ursula le Guin book. I got a whole bunch of them in a Humble Bundle a while back and this has been on my list for a while now.
I really like her style of writing. It feels relaxing for the most part, setting the scene, going through the motions, until suddenly the sentences grow shorter, almost chopped off, breathless, when something exciting is happening.
I don't read much fantasy, but this seems a bit different. I'm sure there's a big adventure right around the corner, but so far I've been learning about the ways of magic and the dangers of imbalance and I am here for it! 🤩
Sparrowhawk is an interesting character, charmingly flawed. I couldn't help but think of the Devil Gene once he arrived at the school and met Jasper. 😅
