the men around that culture don't even make up excuses. They just don't do the work. It is not worth trying to get them to do the work. They will do exactly as they are told and no more. If the work doesn't get done, it's the women who get scolded or reminded, usually. Not sure how it is with younger generations these days. That's just how it was growing up, and now I'm in my 40s and moved across the country.
