It is a fantastical premise. That's a really good thing by the way.
Ever had sea monkeys? I'm sure they think they're really cool and at the very top of the food chain swimming around in their glass bowl. Sound familiar? We are absolute, out of control moronic heathens who, without Jesus, haven't a clue as to how retarded we really are.
Parents can never tell their kids anything they won't ignore or even spite just because. Our Father has the same challenge with us. He was so pissed with His children He did a complete reboot (flood). And, how have we, His children, done at living a moral and Godly life this time around. Pretty pathetic. But, because a parent can't tell their children what to do, He sent an intermediary in human form to attempt to get His children back on track. How has it worked out? Not so great. But, for some of us who understand the mission of Jesus, and want a closer relationship with the Father, we adhere, best we can and pray for the strength and presence of mind to do better everyday.
It's kind of like the JQ. You never even notice them...until one day you do. Then you can't stop noticing. That's similar to what it was like for me with Jesus. Once you get Him you notice God's work in almost everything.
I hope one day you have that moment of clarity and realization.
