for example, the Galilee sea in Israel has some crisis every fifteen years or so, because the Khula valley swamps (through which its origin, the Jordan river, flows) were dried to prevent Mallaria and Lutrias were imported from Russia for their fur then set free by some company when it became unprofitable

And they can't do a partial re swampening a la the Netherlands because the Lutrias, an invading species eat a lot of species unique to Israel, and more swamps = more living space for them

And climate change (less rain) doesn't help
