What's the most amazing thing I've seen in the night sky asks the ABC quiz? Hmmm, depends.
Aurora - the most awe inspiring, particularly 11 May this year.
Comet - McNaught - that tail!
Lunar eclipse - I've shared the experience with family far away.
Meteor or shooting star - nice.
Meteor shower - yeh OK but uncivilized hours.
Milky Way - I associate with bush trips.
Moon - yes it washes out the sky but it's actually got pretty amazing geology.
Very sad the Pleiades missed out on the shortlist - the shimmer, the fact it means summer is on its way.
Also Venus - a source of brightness and hope when it's in the evening sky, the last visible planet/star when in the morning sky. Also fun to see Venus in the middle of the day.
