My "warm spare" backup home server system is working pretty well now the kinks have been worked out.
I periodically run a script on the main server that sends a wake-on-lan packet to the backup server (an old e-waste laptop). Once it boots the script rsyncs over the docker directory, sans media and CCTV footage, then shuts down the laptop again.
If my main server goes tits up at some point I can just turn the laptop on, assign it the primary IP, and it'll work well enough.
