Not in any way defending Trumpster's grifty demented old ass, but isn't promising to enact policies that benefit a group of voters financially, like, plain old politics?? What makes what Trumpster is doing now any different, other that explicitness in direct bribery kickbacks and magnitude of scale, than, say, Biden promising $2K stimulus checks in 2020, or Bill Clinton promising a "middle class tax cut" in 1992??
