I appreciate your interpretation, I think it's more workable.

I think really what it comes down to is whatever one's belief system, when something is OBVIOUSLY unworkable, that belief system needs to be flexible enough to get out of the way.

You consider like that French woman with the shop, she's got this whole belief system that tells he that she needs to help the poor helpless refugees to be a good human being. Is she gonna have enough introspection to accept that she needs to adjust that belief system or else its ending with civilizational collapse?

I feel like I'm a bit parroting Thomas Aquinas to say that faith needs to be moderated in the face of observable fact...
