The amount of disgust I feel for people gleefully sharing electrical disinformation probably approaches something like hate.
If you have no idea how electrical grid lightning protection works, you are *not* qualified to make *any* statement on domestic surge protection that involves in any way lightning (especially dramatically implying it's useless) and I hate when people take those buffoons seriously.
Besides, there are all sorts of other failure scenarios that can induce surges of much lesser magnitude.
Localized conditions like the prevalence of copper theft also become quite relevant.

The very documentation they linked to justify their bullshit says they're wrong about surge tolerance in power supplies too (though it also fails to account for several cases I know).
