Calling #AI agents "rogue" is lazy and lets companies off the hook. Mainstream media just repeats U.S. labs' spin. You don't need to be a genius to know these systems don't have wants or goals of their own. When they do something unexpected, it's because the people who built them didn't put the right limits in place, or didn't think through what the system might actually do. OpenAI and others use language that makes the code sound like it has a mind of its own, and that shifts blame away from the designers when something breaks during a research run. We need regulation grounded in how these systems actually work, not in the sci-fi stories we tell about them.

[…] There was, and is, an easy solution to this problem. OpenAI had the option of disallowing hacking and, instead, telling its agents to find the information without accessing private servers. That the company didn’t do this suggests that it wanted to see if the agents would take that step.

#OpenAI rouge #LLMs story is really just your typical Israeli genocidal sloppiness, AKA #NAZA More #Irregular’s misconfigured lab, less #AGI.
