Yes. Politics are like a religion or a long-loved sports team that when attacked, people get personally defensive otherwise.
Their political beliefs may represent people they care about. It can be angering & frustrating to find you’ve been duped and lied to by parents you love, family, teachers, pastors, etc. Then if you get around the anger, then they can understand those people were just indoctrinated too…
