The thing with Neuromancer is, it's so overplayed. I read "Johnny Mnemonic" when it was in OMNI in 1981, I am the original most technical boy. Neuro's fine, but it & Snow Crash are the ONLY TWO of HUNDREDS of cyberpunk stories, that ever get mentioned, so it's gone from "yeah I liked that" to "oh fuck not again". Like if the only music was The B**tles & Elvis. I'm a Howlin' Wolf guy.
