The IDF announced yesterday that it had launched a raid on the Palestinian city of Hebron, home to the two assailants who fatally shot two Israeli soldiers at a West Bank checkpoint earlier that day.
They said the operation, which is expected to last several days, was "limited to the area from which the terrorists operated." Palestinian residents would be allowed to leave the city through three designated exit points after undergoing questioning and security screening, the military added.
The city's deputy mayor told Haaretz that around 250 Palestinian families were evacuated from their homes overnight into Saturday and were permitted to take only essential belongings. Some sought shelter at a reception center opened by the municipality, while others stayed with relatives, he said.
...He added that Israeli forces had begun demolishing structures in the area.
