The ultimate endgame of vaccines, followed to their logical conclusion, is a fully modular immune system that can effectively be tuned with whatever antibodies are needed to deal with anything from pathogens to snake venoms. If this was made open source it would make it much easier for societies to deal with not just pandemics, but even bioweapons.
