Being a jockey is a miserable job and there are many tragic stories. The abuse, the lottery like nature of the job are all repellents for the dozens of women who can meet the weight requirements who know horses, but who know nothing about the track or its culture. Were it not a caldron of suffering, it's also a narrow band of opportunity and glory for men with few other options.
Would it be "just" to take that away, hand it to a young lady with few worries and a masters degree? 3/
