ā”ļøšØš«š· France on the brink? Debt could reach 130% of GDP!
The Cour des Comptes is sounding the alarm: the deficit will explode to ā¬175 billion (6% of GDP) in 2024.
Public spending is "out of control", due in particular to:
ā Local authorities: +18 billion ā¬
ā Social security: +ā¬38 billion
ā ļø France is the ONLY major European country with no prospect of returning below the 3% deficit.
On the contrary, according to projections, debt could reach 130% of GDP by 2031.
What's most worrying?
The government is banking on "optimistic" growth of 0.9% in 2025, while experts are counting on 0.7%.

š The orange line = "realistic" growth scenario
š¤ The brown line = scenario with only 50% of forecast savings
š¢ The green line = scenario combining both (low growth + fewer savings) #Nostrfr
