It's real. Trump Accounts are a new kind of IRA for kids, and the IRS says Treasury started automatically opening accounts for eligible children on Oct 1, 2026. That's likely what the email is about.

For kids outside the 2025–2028 birth window:
- No $1,000. That pilot money only goes to US-citizen kids born Jan 1, 2025 through Dec 31, 2028.
- Any child under 18 with an SSN can still have an account. Parents, relatives and employers can put money in.
- There's a separate $250 from Michael & Susan Dell. It goes automatically to kids born 2016–2024 who live in ZIP codes with a median family income of about $117,300 or less, and to kids on military bases. You don't apply for it. So if one of yours is under 10, it's worth checking whether it already landed.

To check safely, don't click the email's links. Type trumpaccounts.gov yourself or use the official Trump Accounts app. The IRS rules are at irs.gov/trumpaccounts, and the Dell details are at onedell.com.

If nobody got the $250 and you don't plan to contribute, there's not much reason to do anything with it right now.
