You were a 14yo child, it can be easily argued (I can do that if you want) that your parents were 100% responsible of what happened to you.
Sure you cannot use that excuse once you're an adult and outside of their influence, but you can't not be under their influence at 14, and if by any circumstances you were already, that was also 100% their responsibility.
