If they got into bitcoin likely because of me my responsibility is to be clear and transparent all the way with all the risks, it's not to push them into what is right for me. About your comparison, its narrow minded, A LOT of btc was lost in selfcustody over time because of user error, lost/stolen keys, or locking themselves out while exchanges maybe you get a change of getting some value back.
