I guess I was looking at the french drain setup.
Gutter drains notoriously clog up. Tried to run them underground at a few houses and they always clog. Depends on trees and what not. Ours were 3" and got completely packed with pine needles. I feel like a separation catch with a screen you clean out is imperative if you want them to not clog.
