I must disagree. Leftists hate power because it is hierarchical. They want mob rule instead. I think you are correct that it is an unarticulated belief, more like a desire for revenge powered by envy, but it is still a belief, even if an unconscious one.
All Leftists -- the term means "egalitarians" -- are the same, from libertarians through anarchists and communists.
Without going full #SatCong, let us apply the Prozak test: if all Leftists disappeared (exile to Alpha Centauri, for sake of argument) tomorrow, would anything be worse?
