The thing is, we still have scientists. We still have people with the capability to do things. Eliminating funding for government research just meant these assholes could snatch up all that potential and use it for their own gain. The notion of "government agency" became instead "public/private partnership" because of advice from men like Kaczynsky. Private companies who then do their own research, and drag scientific progress to a screeching halt.

What I'm saying is Kaczynsky is hopelessly naive, and failing to comment on all the extra-governmental and criminal sources of scientific research that are doing the biggest harm. He still has a valid argument that government research leads to loss of liberty, in theory, but we'll never find out because our new corporate masters already took all our liberty away.
