As a child, I heard the first album tracks for sure. I was 12 when "Amanda" was on the radio. My friends and I quickly went from Iron Maiden to thrash and punk and death metal and industrial and whatever.
But it's been fun to go into these bands we disregarded back then and hear the content. I'm doing the same with Journey now. I'd never known about the Santana connection. Because of The Sopranos, "Don't Stop Believin'" is elevated to a favorite song for me.
