This kind of reminds me how essential a materialist stance towards technology using empirical critical political economy is nowadays. This article is essentially just another exhibit of the turn to a conservative/reactionary stance towards technology. And essentially the trick here is just to anthropomorphize things that are not made of flesh and blood. Exactly like AI companies are doing... I guess this is just a symptom of not knowing anything about economic history and the history of capitalism. as well as of the diffusion of media and communication technologies.
