I firmly believe in doing my own work, including losing sleep because of long debug sessions and the occasional swearing. But I can claim that I understand the result, and I can maintain it and explain it thoroughly.
The people making AI creations, well, not so much. They are "productive", but they don't understand the details. They experience the joy of creation like a quick sugar rush, without the months of work behind it.
