We're home! Vet didn't see strong evidence of an immune system problem after all. Gave him an antibiotic shot that should last 2 weeks. Prednisone, stepped down every 10 days. Thinking it's a seasonal allergy, possibly environmental, and the irritation snowballed. That's the starting point anyway. He's a minor celebrity there now, word spread that he was coming in after I called, and several techs had to see 'Mac the Uncapturable'.
