A question that someone who doesn't understand trees or fire might not think to ask is "what happens when you suppress fire in a forest packed with both fire-adapted and fire-intolerant species?"

A question that a well-meaning urban environmentalist in a settler-colonial state might not think to ask is "what happens when you remove traditional First Nations practices of intentional low grade burning from the landscape?"

A question that someone enamoured with jobs numbers, stumpage fees, and lumber prices will absolutely refuse to ask is "was the timber industry wrong in saying that a combination of fire suppression and harvest is an equivalent approximation to historic fire cycles?"
