"content": "every now and then i mourn the disappearance of dorling kindersley's exceptional 1990s multimedia CD-ROM titles like Incredible Cross-Sections: Stowaway! and The Way Things Work\n\ntoday at the thrift store, i stumbled upon this 2010 edition of Prehistoric Life: The Definitive Visual History of Life on Earth by DK. \n\nthe naturalist museum-style photography and incredibly dense and informative text was a reminder that although we lost some of the interactivity, the presentation is still as rich as ever.\n\nthe web of the late 2000s, contrary to common belief that wikipedia-answers-all, is a dead knowledge landscape compared to this single volume. \n\nit presents a single, coherent, and consistent scientific view of the origins and development of organisms on earth. this is the kind of book that I would have hauled out as a kid, and pored over every single page.\n\n#dinosaurs #science #bookstodon\nhttps://dialup.cafe/system/media_attachments/files/114/348/010/440/470/642/original/6f6f83a08a9f8f84.jpeg\nhttps://dialup.cafe/system/media_attachments/files/114/348/010/827/572/122/original/65054ad4eb1a1e18.jpeg\nhttps://dialup.cafe/system/media_attachments/files/114/348/011/206/293/046/original/8cda27e91a9a948c.jpeg\n",
