the eery purple someone fixing "computo" seeds a story into me. An emotional story, about a relationship with the device that keeps breaking but fixing it is fun. It's a different kind of story, but a story, not an exercise in world building.

I've no idea who's Computo but I need no other context to read it, it's so deeply human - a personified device, in the eyes of a weirdo who loves it. I imagine the purple one goes on a quest when it turns out they can't fix it for themselves. The story is narrated by a slow narrator. Big emotions of loss narrated with a voice that is a bit too phlegmatic, when it turns out there's no spare part. Computo seems dead. Finally Computo becomes an inanimate object when the purple realizes they can still love the device in this new state of being, as a fixture or a small artwork, changes the purpose.

This thing is really something else and imo it's a bit unfair to gate the story seeds from such a genuine work of art.

Imo it brings huge emotions to the table.
