Reason is a reason to believe. Do you have a sufficient answer (reason) to explain/proof the reliability of reason itself?
It’s obvious that reason “works”, but is it obvious that you may never have questioned its “given” reliability?
Where does it get its supreme defacto power?
Has empiricism empirically verified reason, or does it simply presuppose it?
If you’re looking for a reason, look at the given-ness of reason itself “see” how that by which you reason, cannot itself by reasoned (circular) its existence and the power by which it works, must rest on a reality that transcends itself.
And deeper still: the mind reasons, but there is also the one who recognizes that reasoning as true. There is an awareness prior to the act of reasoning, a seeing of truth as truth. This points to an intelligible reality upheld by Truth itself.
Another name for God is the Logos. So if you have no reason to believe, look to reason and truth, and ask: how can these things be? At that point, you are already knocking on the door.
Or simply:
If you are looking for a reason to believe in God, begin with the fact that you are looking for a reason at all.
