The 'tech singularity' is dystopian nonsense: it isn't possible, and won't happen. Yes, Artificial General Intelligence is, I believe, possible, but it won't happen soon (unlikely in the next fifty years) and won't change much when it does.
We have pretty good natural general intelligence already.
