webassembly also has really poor marketing. the first thing you think when you think "webassembly" is "why assembly in my browser" when really it's more like "source and platform agnostic assembly" which is also a questionable decision (i.e., didnt we learn this the hard way with java..?) but at least is closer to the intended usecase. see: webgl ; i.e., not necessarily OpenGL for the web, but more like... Target-Hardware-AgnosticGL.
