One of the things I liked best about Annalee Newitz 🍜 (npub1hhs…rl5g) 's book Terraformers was that while "democracy" consisted of debate until a consensus was reached, the minority party got to demand one concession that had to be abided by along with the majority decision. Sometimes it was an "if then" sometimes it was an "and do" but the losers weren't left voiceless.
