Yeah I’ve set up a custom domain for Jellyfin before without much issue but for some reason it just couldn’t handle streaming video nearly as well. Constant buffering with 4K HDR HEVC. I’m sure I could optimize it a bit but my favourite thing about my plex and Arr stack is I don’t have to maintain it much.
I use Infuse on our Apple TVs in the house and my devices, and my house is by far the highest volume users on my server, but I’ve also got friends and family who use the standard plex android and smart TV apps, and from what I can tell, those can be even worse than the already-horrible plex app for stuff like buffering and streaming the original file over the network to do all the work on-device.
