I've noticed, not just with myself, that posting about project updates/releases, new prototypes/demos, photography, art, music here feels like sending things off into a dark void of late. Over time (and depending on current personal constitution) that lack of feedback or even just acknowledgement can create/amplify quite a bit self-doubt, isolation and questions of wrong-doing or if the continued effort of writing/editing/curating/posting is even worth it... I love the fediverse and all it stands for, but I never know if it's maybe just that the Mastodon crowd really is more into other things like discussing AI, tech, science, politics, cats, small talk... Maybe it's why less stubborn artist/craft people have given up (often a bit too quickly, I think) and went to other platforms... 🤷‍♂️

So whenever I see people/peers getting or even sharing a rare nugget of appreciation like the below, it truly makes my day, a sign which gives me hope, equally for myself and others!

This is not about fishing for compliments (or dopamine hits), but seeking honest/constructive feedback, related commentary/questions/discussions of any kind. All this is quite important for (personal) growth/direction. I don't know a single person who's putting out some of their own creative work and who wouldn't also appreciate a bit more feedback or form more connections around their work. Sharing is caring. Likewise, uncaring leads to less sharing... I too need to get better at giving more feedback myself, so this all also is an invitation and note-to-self to be/do better...
