As the Banks accelerated the closure of branches you may recall one of the remedies to 'banking deserts' was to refer people to Post Offices that could offer a range of quasi-banking services....
Well, now, as part of its restructuring of the TJ Jones chain (formally WH Smiths), its Private Equity owner is effectively closing 70 PO branches. Its as yet unclear how this maps onto banking deserts, but it will certainly compound the problem.
