yet another angle: I've seen someone insisting that using existing models is okay, because all or most of the harms are coming from training, and the training costs have been baked in. This makes me think that it is not dissimilar to saying that leather products and animal fats in cosmetics are fine because they're just by-products, with costs of animal lives paid anyways. Except this "AI leather" is also toxic and causes "prAIon disease"
