Is this old novel worth reading today? I think so. We live in a time where humility is in short supply, everyone thinks they know better, and ugly criticism runs rampant--at home, in the workplace, in civic discourse, you name it. It's really easy to pass judgement on the person in charge and undermine their authority from the safe position of not being in charge yourself. This doesn't mean the person at the top is always right...far from it! It just means we need to tread carefully and walk circumspectly, because we might be more like that person than we think.
