"I am gonna be one of those seniors that movies love to mock where they know nothing of technology because I'll just stop doing new tech things."
When I was twenty-one, I was the student lead in the university's Unix Group, and I ran around fixing workstations and servers all over the school. I was the "go to" guy for anybody who couldn't get their SunOS configuration right, or the line printers in operations wouldn't print, or they didn't know why the Cray Y-MP at the laser lab wasn't booting.
But thirty-five years on and I'm just tired. None of the current adversarial OS behavior, AI stuffed software, and locked down hardware is fun any longer. I don't know if it's because things have changed so much, or if I'm just getting old. But I often now fantasize about just dropping it all and living in a cabin in the woods.
