Lynchings are mob violence with no attempt to establish facts. ICE dickheads murdering people in their cars is crime of passion stuff - fear and anger. Cops murder people through carelessness or callousness or reckless use of force. In none of these situations is a calm adult making deliberate decisions. I don't think any of the participants imagined someone would be dead when they rolled out of bed that morning.
The deaths of the French court and the Romanov family both happened post-revolution - months or years after the crazy excitement ended. Louis and his friends got trials and executions. It might have been a show trial, but it was a trial. Nicholas II got a bureaucratic decision by a regional Soviet - as bland and impersonal as a "past due" notice in the mail.
It seems to me that the 0.01% mostly fear calm, deliberate punishment under what appears to be the rule of law.
Perhaps what really pissed off the 0.01% is the affront of having *someone else* be in charge of them? I sort of get that - why even be rich and powerful and still have to stand in line at the DMV like some random pleb? They are absolutely used to being in charge of themselves - anything else really disturbs them.
Holy shit the 0.01% have a real hard-on for getting rid of the ICC.
