Brand came across a couple guards actually guarding rather than chatting and pulled out one of his items, a Rubber Duck. He threw it near them and ducked back behind the corner and into a convenient alcove. The Rubber Duck squeaked on landing.
"What the...?" the nearest guard picked it up and squeaked it.
"That rotten—!" it dawned on them. "Get 'im!"
The guards rushed in his direction, but of course assumed he'd go forward. Their footsteps echoed for a bit until they reached the limit of their area and they made the walk of shame back. Brand grinned as they grumbled about nobody believing them and crept onward while their backs were turned. He'd be in real trouble if they ever got better at communicating.
