"content": "Maintenance report for burningboard.net 🛠️ 🧵 1/3\n\nHighlight of the day: all internal traffic now runs over #IPv6 only! 🎉\n\nOur instance runs on #FreeBSD in separate jails: nginx, Puma/streaming, Sidekiq and the database. Every jail has had IPv6 from day one, but some of the services still talked to each other over private IPv4. \n\nNot anymore:\n\n• nginx -\u003e Puma \u0026 streaming\n• Rails, Sidekiq \u0026 streaming -\u003e PostgreSQL \u0026 Valkey\n• Prometheus exporters, Loki, OpenSearch\n• DNS resolvers\n\nInternal connections now use hostnames from one shared hosts file that only contains IPv6 addresses, so a name automatically means IPv6.
